The laboratory houses a Cyberware 3030 scanhead mounted on a Cyberware PS cylindrical motion platform as part of the Cyberware Head & Face Color Scanner bundle. The scanner is suitable for both human head and small object scanning. The 3030 shines an off-axis low-intensity laser illuminating a profile captured from two video sensors to triangulate its spatial location. Thousands of these profiles are combined to construct a single range scan dataset. The scanner additionally captures a 24-bit RGB texture map using a cylindrical surface parameterization. The scanner also includes CySurf software for rudimentary processing of scans in their initial forms.

The laboratory also has curtains that provide complete control of its lighting to reduce scanning noise due to external light sources, and a small round table used to scan small or medium-sized objects.
