- Physics in Graphics - large graphical index of papers on fluid, fracture, fire, ice, smoke, hair, lightning, and cloth.
- Pouet - BASS. (To fully appreciate this place you must download some of the "prods.")
- CG Talk - incredible computer graphics artists (see esp. CG Choice Gallery: 3D).
Resources
- vim.org - if you write a lot of code, you'll want this -- instantly change the order of many common editing tasks
- GPGPU.org - gathering place for the cult of general purpose programming on the GPU.
- Ray Tracing News - no longer active (they say ray tracing is dead...), but still an indespensible resource for those interested in necromancy.
- CGA FAQ - the old comp.graphics.algorithms FAQ converted into Wiki form by Matt Pharr and Ken Shoemake. There are still a lot of holes which need filling -- this is a good place to write some articles on graphics which are more accessible than what's out there now.
- AIM@SHAPE Shape Repository - a great repository of free, high-quality, high-resolution meshes.
Books and/or Large PDFs
- Concerning the Spiritual in Art, Wassily Kandinsky. Made me realize I was missing the point (pun intended).
- Monte Carlo Ray Tracing - the indispensable course notes on Monte Carlo ray tracing from SIGGRAPH 2003.
- Fluid Simulation for Computer Animation - the indispensable course notes on fluid simulation from SIGGRAPH 2006.
- The Stories of Vladimir Nabokov, Vladimir Nabokov --- I'm particularly fond of "Terror."
- An Introduction to the Conjugate Gradient Method Without the Agonizing Pain, Jonathan Shewchuk --- the title does not lie. Very intuitive introduction to the conjugate gradient method.
- Robust Monte Carlo Methods for Light Transport Simulation, Eric Veach --- definitely a worthwhile read if you're interested in rendering. Veach's thesis helped me think about light transport a lot more clearly, and was inspiration to learn some interesting math.
- Gravity's Rainbow, Thomas Pynchon --- can't remember where I got this, but it can be very useful if you're reading GR.
- Photometry and Radiometry - does a good job of clearly defining radiometric terminology, and addresses the confusion about "radiosity."
- It's Not How Good You Are, It's How Good You Want to Be, Paul Arden --- nothing but hyperbolic aphorisms, but still contains some really good things to remember when trying to come up with new ideas. One of the best is, "Give away everything you know, and more will come back to you." People who hoard their ideas depend on them, and are constantly afraid of getting "scooped." Those who give their ideas away freely will have an impetus to create new ones, and will become better at the creative process as a result.

- August Allen - inventor of the brilliant iPenguin Nano.
- Matt Cheney - Matt's webpage is spartan, but the full mythos is available in his upcoming biography, "Sketchy at Best."

- Harold Cooper - Bedtime Theorems, Harold's most famous treatise, is where I was first exposed to true mathematical rigor.
- Andrew Colombi - the moment you meet Andrew Colombi you will know the answer to that age-old question: "Why is Italy shaped like a boot?"
- Devin Doyle - puts me to shame. Unwitting co-inventor of the tequila screwdriver.
- John Hart - graphics professor at UIUC, editor of ACM Transactions on Graphics, and all around good guy. John has been a great help in getting involved with graphics / GPU research at UIUC.
- Jared Hoberock - there's only one word I can use to describe Jared: subversive.
- Cam de Leon - Cam is one of a few incredibly talented artists I've had the opportunity to work with while doing computer graphics - be sure to check out the gallery.
- Jerry Talton - Jerry is one of the bigger assholes (and better friends) I've encountered during my time at UIUC.
- Parisa Tabriz - making life hard for the colorblind.
- Eliot Young - a scientist at SwRI. Eliot was a mentor to me during high school and remains an inspiration.
- Yisong Yue - Yisong and I do a truly heartfelt rendition of the national anthem.
